Lady Gaga And Cher Make ‘History’ On ‘Greatest Thing’

For all the Lady Gaga and Cher fans out there who fainted at the news that two of pop music’s largest stars have teamed up on a soon-to-be released record, your wait is nearly over!

Cher herself confirmed via Twitter back in August that we would hear “The Utmost Thing” sometime in September, and because the month is quickly coming to an end, we must only have a few more days to wait to hear the highly anticipated track.

To hold you over until the release, MTV News just caught up with RedOne, the producer mastermind behind the soon-to-be hit, to find out how the song came to be and why everyone will like it.

“[Gaga and I] recorded the song a few years ago, and we were always in the studio enjoying that song. It’s weird we never did whatever thing with it,” he said. “So I remember my management and Cher’s management were trying to get us together, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’d like to meet Cher, just to meet her!’ And so I met her, I played her some songs, and I played her ‘The Utmost Thing,’ and she loved it. She said, ‘This is my song,’ I said, ‘Yes, it’s your song.’ ”

RedOne said he let Gaga know via text thought, and she was ecstatic. Then, about a month later, Red received a text from Gaga that inspired an epic pairing.

“I cut the words with Cher first, and I was in Madrid and got a text from Gaga saying, ‘I’m thinking about jumping on the song in the remix,’ ” he recalled. “I was like, ‘No, you must jump on the original! Make it a duet.’ She said, ‘Oh yes, OK, absolutely,’ and then I spoke to Cher, and it became a party.

“Everybody loved it,” he extra. “Gaga on it, Cher, two huge icons, [they are] part of music history. So it happened. I’m very pleased to be a part of this.”

Of course, RedOne wouldn’t reveal when we’ll hear the track, only that it’s coming soon.

Lady Gaga Calls For Meeting With Obama After Bullied Teen’s Suicide

Lady Gaga was so shaken with the news about the death of 14-year-ancient Jamey Rodemeyer this weekend that she has called for President Obama to ratify laws making bullying a despise crime.

Rodemeyer, who had posted an “It Gets Better” record in May about his long struggle with bullying at teach, took his life on Sunday with what his parents said was years of taunting over his sexuality.

In his record, Rodemeyer cited Gaga as an inspiration, saying, “She makes me so pleased. She lets me know that I was born this way. And that’s my advice to you from her: You were born this way. All you have to do is hold your head up and you’ll go far.” The teen seems on the verge of tears when discussing Gaga’s thought and promising to keep on going despite the despise.

On Wednesday, Gaga articulated her sadness over Rodemeyer’s death. “The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying, and yelling,” she tweeted. “I have so much rage. It is hard to feel like when cruelty takes someone’s life.” She went further, posting Rodemeyer’s “Better” record, and insisting that bullying “must become illegal. It is a despise crime.”

In fact, Gaga claimed in a subsequent tweet, she’s so upset that she is plotting to meet with President Obama on the matter.

“I will not stop fighting,” she wrote. “This must end. Our age group has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey.” A spokesperson for the White Household could not confirm at press time if Gaga has officially set up a meeting with the president to chat about the issue.

MTV’s ongoing “A Thin Line” project provides tales and resources for anyone who believes they are being cyberbullied or who is looking for ways to stop harassment by digital means.

Seth Rogen: ‘I Smoke A Lot Of Weed When I Write’

“That dude gave me the utmost gift I’ve had in the last five years,” Kevin Smith told MTV News earlier this year about his “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” star Seth Rogen.

Smith wasn’t talking about some consequential postproduction keepsake ? say, the bubble-blowing ring ex-porn star Traci Lords uses for unclean purposes in the movie ? but rather a joint Rogen and the filmmaker shared on the last day of shooting in 2008. “We sat back, watched some footage and sat there smoking,” Smith clarified. “And I loved who I was.”

Smith is now a gleeful fan of weed, which he credits with spurring the most artistically productive years of his career, and Rogen is pleased, as he place it just to MTV News, to take credit for Smith “being stoned all the time.”

“I either get people started smoking weed or I place them out of business smoking weed,” Rogen extra with a laugh while promoting “50/50,” a comedy about a young guy with cancer in which the actor and co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s characters get high for suspect medicinal purposes. “I’m either your first or last.”

While Smith credits pot as a sort of mind-increasing artistic gateway, Rogen says he lights up to ease the drudgery of the creative process. “I smoke a lot of weed when I write, generally speaking,” he told us. “I don’t know if it helps me write. It makes me not mind that I’m writing. And I don’t know if it makes me work better, but it makes me not care that I’m working. Who wants to work? But if you’re stoned, it doesn’t seem like work.”

To help you work better, to make you forget you’re really working, to just have a excellent ol’ time ? why and when people get blazed may clash. But Rogen is convinced that no matter how it goes down, it’s most certainly going down (and up in smoke).

“I reflect a lot of people smoke weed,” he said. “I reflect way more people smoke weed than the media likes to acknowledge. Maybe it’s just the people I’m around, but I don’t reflect so. Pretty much everyone that I know smokes weed sometimes ? with the exception of my parents.”

New Kristen Stewart As ‘Snow White’ Photos Emerge

FROM MTV MOVIES: Kristen Stewart looks like she’s ready for battle. Some photos of the “Twilight” star on the set of “Snow White and the Huntsman” have hit the Internet. In them, Stewart is in her previously teased armor as she films scenes at Marloes Sands Beach in Pembrokeshire Wales, U.K., this week.

Photos on Screenrant.com show the actress riding a white pony alongside a group of extras dressed as medieval soldiers. They are riding through the water for what appears to be some sort of battle vista.

In some on-set candids, the ponytail-sporting actress laughs and walks around the set of the Rupert Sanders-directed flick. Stewart just debuted her longer locks for the film at London Fashion Week. No signs of co-stars Charlize Theron (the Evil sovereign), Chris Hemsworth (the Huntsman) or Sam Claflin (Prince Charming) in the new photos. The film is expected to open June 1, 2012.
